Not Just Yet

Cécile is not an exact unknown, but he has made himself much more prominent recently in the blogosphere and in his workings with Bob Rifo of The Bloody Beetroots. The remix for Pets Dance by the SPA was a co-op between himself and the Beets, and the few productions released by him are beginning to make him one to watch in 2009. Never Trust is electro metal goodness, while the Andromeda is a bit less abrassive, a lot more melodic.

In The Crosshairs

I'm not happy about what happened to FYOF. I think everyone and their mother has downloaded the Fist of God album by now, yet Dim Mak has decided that it is not done fuckin' up and making matters worse, so FYOF is now offline for good and their members will resume blogging under a new moniker. It seems to me record labels should really pick their battles. Just like Matt said, Justice's album got leaked way in advance, and everyone had it, and it still made tons of money from sales/touring/merchandise. Surely MSTRKRFT, of similar notoriety, could perhaps do something similar? Nope, they are ruined now cuz their album leaked, their lives altered forever, their facial hair no longer cool. Kidding aside, I don't wanna make it seem like it's cool to distribute music the artists don't want out there; it's not. But MSTRKRFT would never be known if it wasn't for blogs like FYOF, a blog that truly cares about music and their particular scene, and who has always acted ethically for as long as I've been a reader. But they already know that, they just choose to forget. We are like a condom, once used, to be disposed of.

I'll stop babbling. FYOF members, keep truckin'.

MSTRKRFT - FIST OF GOD

After a debacle as-seen-on excellent blog FuckYouOnFriday a couple of blogs decided to post this album, and well, you decide. Here's a comment from a happy fan who quickly sums up the history to MSTRKFT . . .

"What’s the fuckin deal people? Did any of you stop to think and actually hear the album? It fuckin sucks big time!!! “The looks” had some bit of creativity and has a joyfull melodic touch. This one is just distorted basslines and black dudes raping over the song…It really, really sucks…and there is no need for such commotion. Man, bottom line, FUCK MSTRKRFT or Dim Mak or whatever…If you can’t protect your work, don’t bitch about it!!!
By the way, this discussion took place yesterday i think…well, nodata.tv just posted the intire album…"

Blog Hate-orade

I hear that Tiga is not exactly thrilled with the blog world, too bad the blog world goes completely gaga for him. His new album Ciao! is now on super hype level omega 7, with teasers, radio rips and leaks in full force before the proper release on April 20th. The album has a lot of production work from Soulwax, as well as contributions by Jori Hulkkonen, James Murphy, Gonzales and Philippe Zdar. I like this strategy of getting a solid group of knowledgeable, proper producers to help out throughout an album; it gives the album star power and cohesion at the same time.

Ciao! Tracklist:
Beep Beep Beep (ft. Soulwax)
Mind Dimension (ft. Jori Hulkkonen)
Shoes (ft. Soulwax & Gonzales)
What You Need (ft. Soulwax, vocals: Jake Shears)
Luxury (ft. Gonzales)
Sex O’Clock (ft. James Murphy)
Overtime (ft. Soulwax)
Turn The Night On (ft. Gonzales)
Speak, Memory (with Jori Hulkkonen and Phillipe Zdar)
Gentle Giant (ft. James Murphy)
Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore (ft. Soulwax) (alt)

Other goodies:

Tiga - Shoes (ft. Soulwax & Gonzales) (BBC Radio 1 Rip) (alt)
Tiga - Ciao! Teaser (alt)*
Tiga - Mind Dimension
Tiga vs. Jack Frost - Mind Shout (Tronik Youth Mix) (alt)

*Supposedly the track is Overtime

Away From The Cliche

We here at LTBN are probably not gonna be a part of getting Yuksek 'discovered' by anyone; he's been around since the re-emergence of french touch and has a volume of work that far precedes his popularity and the words on this post. However, his newest LP, released earlier this February, might make it a little difficult to pin Yuksek's sound down and might make it so that we discover him all over again. The album dangerously sits in ambivalence, as it dances between being a pop electro album reminiscent of Depeche Mode or a revisit of mid 90's Brit-techno a la Chemical Brothers or Basement Jaxx. Not a bad thing, but I didn't expect to like it too much. However, this album separates Yuksek from most of the producers in his scene and makes sense in a separation of the artist and the producer.

Tracklist :
01. Break Ya
02. Tonight
03. A Certain Life
04. Extraball featuring. Amanda Blank
05. Take A Ride
06. I Could Never Be A Dancer

Obscure to Omnipotent

The group Shadow Dancer, signed under the Boys Noize Rec. moniker, have always been personal favorites of mine, one of my first posts highlighting their characteristics as producers. Almost a year later and Shadow Dancer have finished their debut LP tittled "Golden Traxe" and are making a tour, stopping in the US for SXSW (Austin) and Hard 13 (LA). Having listened to a couple of the promotional tracks, on top of my personal blessing, I can't wait for this one to drop. Here are the goodies, some of them belonging to previous releases, some in low kbps quality, all intended to encourage a future purchase! Enjoy:

Tracklist:

Bloody Beetroots, 2009

THNX COBRA SNAKE

The All-American Rejects - Give You Hell - Bloody Beetroots Remix (ALT)

SPA - Pets Can Dance - Bloody Beetroots Remix - (Requested to be taken down by the best DJ in the World, STEVE AOKI)

Remember Ezekial eats red hoodie? That was quite a long time ago. As that sound was so far apart from what Two french quys in France were doing at the time, and hard to, well . . . comprehend, the Bloody Beetroots today are a working sound that can't be reckoned with, spawning other hopeful wannabees, few if any are original. 2007, 2008 . . . Where will 2009 go?
